It’s the next generation in massage and body work.
Myotherapy is a form of massage based physical therapy. It’s main purpose is to treat, and prevent muscle pain and restricted joint movement.
Myotherapy treatment mainly focuses on the health os muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons.
Myotherapy treatment can include:
You will need to wear comfortable clothing that is preferably tight enough so that the therapist can assess your movements and determine the source of your dysfunction.
Of course not!
If you do choose to try dry needling you will be informed about the procedure and post dry needling self care.
When people do try dry needling they barely feel anything as the needles go in, and enjoy the feeling of relaxation that they give, but it is up to you. There can also be slight discomfort associated with the needles, which your therapist can talk you through.
Yes! Treatment for expecting and new Mum’s is safe, and there are a range of techniques to ease your pain. Although, if there are complications within the pregnancy then approval from your doctor will be needed in the form of a letter.

No. While most people find massage and the treatment extremely relaxing (and sometimes even fall asleep), we are not specialised in this type of relaxation as in a day spa where there is silence and water running gently in the background.

Yes. A receipt will be emailed to you for manual claiming from your private health insure fund.
At Ministry of Myotherapy we believe that the key to understanding your concerns and appropriate treatment is our main priority to treating the underlying causes and not just your symptoms. Therefore your therapist will conduct a thorough assessment which includes the folioing:
– A detailed health history of your presenting symptoms and for your general health will be discussed.
– Your therapist will get you to perform functional movements and special physical test to screen the integrity of your joint and muscles.
– Range of Motion testing.
– Your therapist will discuss with you all your treatment options and taylor a treatment plan for your needs.
– After discussing the treatment techniques and addressing all your concerns or questions the treatment will begin.
– The therapist will give you self care exercises and/or stretches to perform at home so you can get the most out of your treatment, speed up your recovery time and go back to near normal functioning without discomfort.
A myotherapy consultation can vary in length from 30 to 60 minutes. Your initial consult is usually 60 minutes, this will enable your myotherapist to take a history, examine, assess and treat you. Follow-up treatments are able to be made shorter, depending on your condition.
Myotherapy is not painful. You and your therapist will work within your threshold, if you feel uncomfortable at any point then let your therapist know straight away. We want you to be in control of your body and speak up if there is anything you are not comfortable with in your session.
The number of treatments you need depends on the condition and person we are treating. We aim to keep your appointments to a minimum. Your therapist will be able to tell you within a short period of time whether they can treat you or if they need to refer you to someone else.
Generally you would expect to see some changes in your symptoms after one or two visits; however, some long-term or chronic conditions may require a longer course or more frequent treatment. If you have any concerns, your osteopath will be happy to discuss these with you.
Most people feel relief. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial treatment you can feel slightly tender for 24-48 hours this can be reduced with stretching and heat or ice. If you experience tenderness longer than 48 hours please contact your myotherapist to answer any questions you may have.
After the first 48 hours following your treatment, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. It is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
1. We understand that sometimes patients need to cancel an appointment. We simply ask that you notify us as soon as possible and certainly more than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.
2. Late Arrival Policy
We regret that late arrivals may not receive an extension of their scheduled appointment and will be charged in accordance with their scheduled appointment as this time has been allocated to you. In special cases, and when our schedule will allow, we may be able to accommodate a partial or full appointment. This will be at our discretion and will only occur with proper, advanced notification of your late arrival. If your therapist is running late, due to unforeseen circumstances, you will still receive your full scheduled appointment allocation or a reduction in price.
3. Cancellation and Failure to Attend Policy
Ministry of Myotherapy enforces the following cancellation policy
You will be required to clear all fees prior to receiving further treatment at our practice.
Although we don’t like charging for last-minute cancellations, or for missed appointments, any more than you like being charged… so to sweeten things a little, we give you the option of paying us with your choice of flowers, wine or chocolate, to the approximate value of the cancellation fee, or the missed appointment, whichever is appropriate.
